New to the team this month is Stephen Wilson, an industry veteran whose experience covers the span of the country. Steve is from Maryland, spent time in California, and has been living in Dallas for the last couple of years. His journey in the Material Handling industry started like many college students – in retail! As Wilson worked his way up at his job, he went from serving as an Operations Manager in distribution to a system expert which he describes as a mix between IT and Operations. This provided the opportunity for Steve to delve into the world of Warehouse Control Systems (WCS), Warehouse Execution Systems (WES), and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), teaching him how to test, train, and develop in various settings.
After receiving a Master of Leadership and Organizational Change, Steve began thinking differently; moreover, he started pondering the overall processes and how he could help make them better and reduce turnover. Steve and Ben York collaborated on projects in the past, and they both knew there was a future in store for Steve at SRSI.
Wilson’s on-boarding will consist of him learning a lot about our partner, JASCI software, which he describes as “extremely intriguing.” “If I had [JASCI Software] a year ago it would have made many things a lot easier,” says Wilson. He sees the growth opportunity and potential in SRSI and looks forward to being a part of that, and we could not agree more. Steve hopes him and Ross can lead a full implementation team in the next couple of years promoting software and robotics globally. While rapid growth can be overwhelming, Steve is ready for it all! He has experienced booming growth in his previous positions and is excited to see it happen at SRSI.
With the presence of COVID-19, everyone has acquired new hobbies, activities, and norms. Steve and his family bought their dream house right before the pandemic hit, so he has been busy relaxing and soaking up the sun. Aside from his work and play, Steve sparingly provides mock interviews for veterans looking to transition into the workforce through a program run by Deloitte and supported by the Wounded Warrior Project. Steve is passionate about working with the nation’s veterans, and the increase in virtual meetings has made conducting interviews much more feasible. We are so glad Steve is living the dream – helping others, enjoying his new home, and making BIG things happen at SRSI!
