Ray ZaboroskiSRSI recently welcomed Ray Zaboroski to the team as a Controller in the Accounting department. Ray joins the SRSI family well-equipped with industry experience, accounting expertise, and strong relationships with SRSI leadership.
Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Ray attended Texas A&M University. After spending some time studying chemical engineering, and then watching his uncle become a successful accountant, Ray deemed the latter area of study a promising one. He transferred from engineering to accounting halfway through his time at Texas A&M and ultimately received his bachelor’s degree in accounting. Ray also met his wife in college, and they later moved to Dallas and adopted two boys, one from Dallas and one from Houston.
Ray worked in public accounting for about six years and then went to work with two forklift dealerships for the next 17 years. His time at these companies allowed him to see the direction of the material handling industry firsthand, and he got to know the ins and outs of warehousing and distribution center needs. Throughout his early career, Ray had the pleasure of working with Ben York, SRSI CEO, on a project as well as Tim O’Brien, SRSI CFO, on a separate account. Tim and Ray worked closely throughout one of his jobs and shared a lot of visions for success. His position as an auditor allowed him to live out his attention to detail and commitment to great work.
As Ray describes, it was a no-brainer for him to move from public accounting to the material handling industry. He quickly became the primary support expert for ERP systems and converted platforms from green screen to more modern systems. He’s excited to work with SRSI, where there is a clear focus on forward-thinking technology and providing quality systems and solutions to clients. “[SRSI’s solution profile] is just neat. The systems and automation are interesting, and the projects are fun to watch unfold,” Ray adds.
When asked about the direction of the material handling industry, Ray said, “it’s going to lean more and more toward automation, and SRSI will eagerly follow suit.” He continues, “automation is here, and warehouse space is expensive. Optimizing that space is necessary for a return on investment.” Ray will certainly add valuable expertise and organization for the fast-growing SRSI team, allowing the company to take on more projects and take care of their customers.
Outside of crunching numbers and keeping SRSI’s operations in line, Ray enjoys the outdoors and spending time at his hunting lease in Texas. He also considers himself a beginner woodworker and amateur homebrewer, and he loves spending time with family. They travel to Colorado every summer or so for family vacations and adventuring.
Overall, Ray says he looks forward to a new adventure with an old friend, referring to Tim O’Brien. Anyone who knows this duo knows they are unstoppable in the accounting world, and SRSI is lucky to have them optimize our business.
